"Dusk" by Kathy Anderson |
It was late in the day and I was distracted so I just blurted out the first things that came to mind:
- It was the first place I saw the ocean
- It's where many people from Quebec go on vacation
- And it was in Maine that my brother stabbed another kid in the arm with a barbecue fork.
I think I may have also said that I thought it was known as "The Granite State."
So I was wrong about two things: Maine is "The Pine Tree State" and the injury was actually very close to the eye and not the arm.
Maine is also where my spouse claims to have had some of the best batter-fried shrimp of her life and it is the setting for the Discovery Channel series "Black Ops Brothers."
But none of this is important.
What is important is that Maine is the source of inspiration for some of the work by local artist Kathy Anderson, including her donation to this year's auction called "Dusk."
We are so pleased to have had the opportunity to showcase Anderson's work in recent years and want everyone to know that she is having an exhibition at The Works with Tony Reynolds, another artist who has contributed his talents to our auction in prior years. Their show, "Metamorphosis" opens on Friday, March 11th.
