Shot from the 1934 film "The Gay Divorcee" that introduced "The Continental" to American dancers. In the 1934 film The Gay Divorcee, Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire have a 17-minute dance number called "The Continental." Though never a big hit, the song, "The Continental" was the first dance song to win an Academy Award. According to www.streetswing.com, the dance was always more of a exhibition number rather than a social dance. One thing is certain, it was designed to get you moving and so is the airline of the same name. Again this year, Continental Airlines is providing us with 2 travel coupons good for travel in the Continental US (including Alaska), Canada, the Caribbean and Central America. The winning bidder will have 12 months from the date of the Auction to book and complete their travel. |
